Welcome to BirdMark ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
We collect several types of information to provide and improve our services.
Information Linked to Your Identity: The following data is collected and linked to your specific account stored using Supabase. We collect your Name and Email Address to manage your account, verify subscriptions, and send important app updates. We collect Location Data including precise and coarse GPS coordinates when you identify a bird to improve identification accuracy for your region. We collect User Content including photos of birds you capture or upload and audio data of bird sounds so you can build your personal bird collection. We assign a unique User ID to your account. We collect Purchase History regarding your monthly or yearly subscriptions to manage BirdMark Pro features. We collect Usage Data about how you interact with the app including button clicks and identification history.
Anonymous Diagnostic Data: We collect Crash Data including technical logs if the app crashes, and Performance Data about app launch times and network latency. This data is not linked to your identity.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data for App Functionality to identify birds, save your sightings, and manage your account. We use it for Personalization to show you birds relevant to your geographic area and improve identification accuracy for locally common species. We use it for Analytics to monitor app performance and improve our bird identification engine. We use it for Communication to send you service-related notifications or responses to support requests.
3. Third-Party Services
BirdMark utilizes the following trusted third-party services. Supabase for secure database storage and user authentication. RevenueCat for subscription management and in-app purchase processing. iNaturalist, Wikipedia and Xeno-Canto whose public APIs we access to enrich bird data — your personal photos are not shared with these entities. Cornell BirdNET for audio-based bird species identification from recorded sound.
4. Tracking and Advertising
We do not track you. We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or share it with third-party advertisers. We do not use your information to follow your activity across other apps or websites.
5. Your Choices and Data Deletion
You can access, modify, or delete your account information within the app settings. If you choose to delete your account, all associated sightings, photos, and personal data will be permanently removed from our servers.
6. Children's Privacy
BirdMark is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy within the app and updating the Last Updated date.
